Mendelssohn CD JUNO Nomination!

A perennial favourite at the JUNO Awards, James has earned another JUNO nod this year. Announced at a press conference today, his Mendelssohn CD is nominated in the category of Classical Album of the Year: Large Ensemble or Soloist(s) with Large Ensemble Accompaniment. The JUNO Awards will be handed out at ceremonies in Toronto March 26 & 27.

James's latest recording is available in the UK and Canada now! US fans will be able to pick it up in January 2011. Once again on the Onyx label, the disc features Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy and Mendelssohn's Octet in E-flat with musicians from the Seattle Chamber Music Society. Today, Gov. Gen. David Johnston made James Ehnes a Member of the Order of Canada during a ceremony in Ottawa. He is recognized "as one of the finest concert violinists of his generation." and his citation continues: "An ambassador of the arts, he instills pride in Canadians by showcasing our nation’s talent abroad and is a source of inspiration to many of our future classical musicians."
